"50 youths attack couple

A group of about 50 youths on motorcycles beat up a couple and overturned their four-wheel drive after one of them was involved in an accident with the couple’s vehicle at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah yesterday morning.

The youths are believed to be involved in illegal racing in the city every Saturday night.

They beat up the couple with helmets and took a gold chain, handphone and RM3,000.

The couple sustained injuries to their heads, hands and legs and were helped out of their vehicle by passers-by who rushed them to a private hospital here.

The woman who only wanted to be identified as Chan, 24, said the incident occurred at 4.30am when her husband Khoo, 26, was driving to Ipoh Garden South from Kampung Simee.

One of the youths rammed his motorcycle into our vehicle, she said.

“We stopped driving when the rest of the youths surrounded our vehicle and started uttering vulgar words,” she said.

Chan said one of the youths snatched her handbag and chain and several others started hitting her and her husband with helmets.

Chan said that after several minutes the youths overturned their four-wheel drive.

State deputy CID chief Supt Abdul Rahman Hashim confirmed the incident, adding that police have classified the incident as rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code."

i find the activities of this subsection of the youth
highly despicable
and not something most other youths want to be associated with
